The University of St. Thomas’ Testing Center has been relocated to the basement of the Doherty Library, room B010, in order to accommodate increased demand for its services.
At the beginning of the spring 2020 semester, students were sent an email advising them the Testing Center was moved from the original location in Crooker to the library.
In an email to the Independent, Director of Academic Advising and Enrollment Services Lee Holm wrote there were 13 spots for students to take tests in the Crooker location; the new library location has 23.
“Simply put, the demand for the Testing Center during peak periods had outgrown the old location,” Holm wrote.
Holm also wrote that “increased activity” in Crooker caused too much noise for test takers, making the library a more ideal location.
An expansion of Career Services will take its place in Crooker.
“Career Services is trying to expand their outreach to current UST students, alumni and employers and needs to utilize their entire office area to make this possible,” Holm wrote.
Lastly, the email sent to students stated the Testing Center, which was previously working in conjunction with Career Services, is now a part of Academic Advising, but is still working jointly with the Mendenhall Achievement Center.
