The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced Thursday there will be no fall sporting competitions due to health and safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
UST became a member of the SCAC in 2018.
In a press release, SCAC wrote the Presidents Council unanimously agreed to suspend fall sports including cross country, volleyball and soccer for the 2020 season, after reviewing public health recommendations from the NCAA. However, all sports teams are encouraged to hold workouts and practice with the proper health and safety conditions in place.
“With this decision, SCAC institutions will gradually resocialize our sport programs to campus with the goal of safe competition and a return to regular conference play,” wrote Chair of the Presidents Council and President of Trinity University Danny Anderson.
There are no official decisions about winter and spring sports at this time.
