Houston Water Line Break Affects UST

The University of St.Thomas Residence Life is instructing students to stay off campus until Monday March 2 because of a water shortage related to a Feb. 27 water main break in Houston. UST Residence Life is providing port-a-potties to residents staying in Guinan, Young and Clare Halls.

In an email to residents Thursday afternoon, UST Residence Life wrote “in order to give the city ample time to fix and secure the issues with the water on campus, the Office of Residence Life is asking all residents who checked out of the residence halls to please remain at home through the weekend and return on Monday if at all possible.”

On the morning of Feb.27, a water main broke in Houston, affecting areas including Montrose, The Heights, and the Museum District. Friday classes were canceled at numerous schools and universities including UST. A water boil notice was also put into effect for the entire City of Houston; it was lifted Feb. 29.
